William Woelki

William Woelki is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. This semester he will be working as both a teaching assistant, as well as a research assistant under Dr. Carey for the Black Boy Mattering Project.  He is coming from an undergraduate study at Berea College where he received a B.A in Biology and Child and Family Studies (Concentration: Child Development). He is interested in various aspects of research within the realm of human development. William is passionate and interested in researching the concepts of attachment disorders, education and social policy, resilience and epigenetics. In particular, he is interested in working with underrepresented populations including but not limited to: impoverished communities, children in foster care and young people of color.

Professional Experiences

  • MSC Research Intern 2021, worked alongside the MSC Federal Way, Washington food bank to conduct critical research outlining community needs and equitable solutions to poverty.
  • Writing Seminar Teaching Assistant 2019-2020, Teaching Assistant for Dr. Meta Mendel-Reyes and Dr. Vicky Hayes in the GSTR 110 and 210 Seminars.
