The main administrative and advisement offices of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies are located in 111 & 112 Alison Hall West, (302)831-6500. Staff and advisors are available to help students with registration, policy questions, and day-to-day academic problems.
Tammy Salzbrenner, the Assistant to the Department’s Chair, Donald G. Unger, Ph.D., handles departmental funding issues, and generally keeps our office running smoothly. Ruthann Schurman is here to help with many student concerns, particularly undergraduate registration and course scheduling. Barbara Ruane and Linda Thornton help students solve academic problems and also work with faculty to support their research and service activities. An advisement team is available in Alison Hall West, Room 112, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to provide one-on-one consultations and academic advisement for undergraduate students. Faculty, of course, also have office hours for advisement and/or can be contacted by appointment.
The CEPP Office of Student Support Services, located in 105 Pearson Hall, (302)831-2301, provides support and assistance to all undergraduate majors in the college. Students can discuss options to help them optimize their academic programs, for example, pursue the Dean’s Scholar program under his mentorship. The CEPP Office of Student Support Services is also great at helping students trouble shoot complex academic needs and problems. Terry Crotty and Susan Dubil are the welcoming staff at the CEPP OSSS, and along with Butch Patrick, Coordinator, are ready to assist HDFS students.
