The Howard W. Swank, Alma K. Swank, and Richard Kemper Swank Foundation will be awarding Swank Human Services Disabilities Scholarships in 2010 to 2 Human Services majors with Disabilities Studies minors in their Sophomore years who are concentrating their studies in disabilities services. The Scholarship will cover tuition, books, fees, and related expenses for their Junior and Senior years, up to $18,000 per student.
The Howard W. Swank, Alma K. Swank, and Richard Kemper Swank Foundation is making this significant commitment in order to address the need to develop human service professionals to support persons with neuro-developmental disabilities and their families.
All student recipients must be Delaware residents;
Eligible students will be identified by the faculty of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies in their sophomore year by January 10, 2010;
Two students will be awarded the scholarships at the University of Delaware’s annual Honor’s ceremony in May of each year; a representative of the Swank Foundation will award the scholarships to the students.
Students accepting the scholarship will sign an agreement to work in the state of Delaware for a two year period of time or repay the scholarship funds. Such employment shall commence within 6 months from graduation at the University of Delaware. Employment must be as a human service professional whose job is to support persons with neuro-developmental disabilities and their families.
