Student Groups and Organizations

Student Groups and Organizations at Univ. of Delaware Department of Human Development & Family StudiesThere are many types of organizations and groups that students can join and meet other students with similar interests. A student can contact their advisor or the CEPP Office of Student Support Services for more information. Some of these student organizations include:

CEPP AMBASSADORS

Goal: Support the efforts and commitment of the college through recruitment, outreach and service including university open houses, college receptions, college committees and alumni events.
Membership: Must be a declared major in the college and have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA to apply. Applicants must possess solid communication skills, be friendly, enthusiastic, dependable and outgoing, and enjoy meeting new people.

* COUNCIL ON HUMAN SERVICES

Goals: The purpose of the Council of Human Services is to provide a support system for Human Services majors, Family and Community Services majors, for graduate students in Applied Family Studies, and for other University of Delaware undergraduate and graduate students desiring a career in human services.
Membership: All interested students may participate in council activities.

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY STUDIES GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION

Purpose: The HDFS-GSA serves as a social and professional support network for graduate students. It maintains a close working relationship with the Graduate Coordinator, facilitating communication between students, faculty, administrators and professional staff within the school of Human Development and Family Studies. The HDFS-GSA also sponsors programs which foster professional development, networking, and social opportunities, both within the HDFS department and in connection with other University graduate programs.
Membership: Any student enrolled full-time, part-time, or with sustaining status in a graduate program within the Department of Human Development and Family Studies are members of the HDFS-GSA.

*KAPPA DELTA PI

Goal: To promote excellence in and recognize outstanding contributions to education. Kappa Delta Pi endeavors to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members, to quicken professional growth, and honor achievement in educational work.
Membership: Those elected to membership are teacher education majors (from all teaching fields) who exhibit the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards, and promise in teaching and allied professions. Students are invited who have attained at least second semester sophomore status and a 3.25 or better GPA. The completion of at least 20 hours of community service is required.

KAPPA OMICRON NU - Alpha Upsilon Chapter

Goal: To promote scholarship, leadership and service in fields within Family and Consumer Sciences (i.e., Fashion and Apparel Studies; Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management; Human Development and Family Studies; Leadership; Nutrition and Dietetics and CEPP).
Membership: Junior/Senior with at least 45 UD credit hours and minimum 3.3 GPA; graduate students with at least 12 UD credit hours and 3.5 GPA.

* STUDENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN (SAEYC)

Goals: To provide information for students interested in the needs of young children; to provide information regarding career opportunities.
Membership: Anyone interested in young children.

* STUDENT COUNCIL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN (SCEC)

Goal: SCEC provides students from all majors with the opportunity to plan and deliver activities for students with disabilities, and to have membership in a professional organization that is committed to improving educational outcomes for students with exceptionalities.

* UD Registered Student Organization 9/06
