Faculty & Staff

The faculty in our programs bring a unique set of qualifications and real-world experiences to the classroom, to research, interventions, to public service and to the life of the department. Our faculty are from various academic disciplines, such as psychology, human development and family studies, sociology, education, anthropology, and public policy, which enable students to develop interdisciplinary perspectives about families and individuals during their courses of study with the department. We are dedicated to facilitating individual development and to helping families to be strong and healthy. People developing across the life span, people interacting in families, people serving the needs of others in communities, agencies, and schools --- all of these fall under the scope of study in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.

Our faculty includes experts whose primary appointments are with the Department. We also have faculty with Joint or Secondary appointments who are experts working in applied Centers in the University who bring their expertise into the classroom. Instructors compliment our faculty and bring their knowledge and skills from settings within and beyond the University into our classes. Lastly, faculty who have retired continue to help students and our department with their wisdom, experiences and expertise. They are our Emeriti faculty.
