STUDY ABROAD IN GERMANY – WINTER 2020

This program is particularly special because students will live in two cities with two very different feels. In both cities, students are going to be going on site visits daily with German social entrepreneurs, foundations, award bodies, and hubs/intermediaries, in order to get a solid understanding of the social entrepreneurship ecosystem and culture in Germany. Even more meaningful, students will also have the opportunity to experience working on a social issue directly through two service learning activities, which from my own experience in Germany, can really shift and inform perspectives.

The program was built with both comfort and affordability in mind. Students will be staying in hotels throughout the program, and they will have ample free time to explore their new “home” cities or to travel elsewhere in Germany or Europe during their stay. As a micromester program, this is the most affordable study abroad option at UD, with the ability to also feel like you are getting enough of a break during winter session as well (they will have 1/1.5 week before the start of the Spring 2020 semester). In addition, no German language is needed–Germany is very comfortable to get around in with only English.

The course (ENTR/HDFS 367) counts for many students across HDFS concentrations and ENTR majors/minors/certificates (including–but not exclusively–SocEnt minor, concentration, and certificate students).
